Kathmandu, Thursday, Rabi Lamechane, the chairperson of Rastriya Swotanta party (RSP) and former home minister of Nepal has finally got interim bail from the High court from Rupandehi. The Butwal bench of the Tulsipur High Court on 18 December 2025 ordered that Lamichhane be released on bail in the Supreme Cooperative fraud and organised crime case.

These are the conditions set by the high court of tulsipur regarding his released.

  • The bail was set at approximately NPR 27.48 million — an amount linked to the claimed losses in the cooperative fraud case. Lamichhane had submitted a bank guarantee equivalent to that amount as part of the bail process.

  • The High Court also set specific conditions attached to his release, including:

    1. Securing the bail amount already provided as a bank guarantee.

    2. Informing the court in advance if he plans to travel abroad.

    3. Signing a legal document agreeing to pay any additional liabilities that may arise from the final verdict of the case.

    4. Certain earlier conflicting orders regarding his remand were annulled.

    5. Ensuring that the bail conditions protect the financial interests of depositors and investors affected by the alleged fraud.
